Vahagn Aleksanyan: Azerbaijan should leave our territories because the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia is not subject to bargaining under any condition
1 / 5

The Prime Minister’s visit to the Russian Federation directly from Prague was planned in advance. As for Armenian-Russian cooperation, we are allied countries and we continue allied relations. There are some problems, we have recorded them and we are working with our partners. We are waiting for clear steps and actions related to the restoration of the territorial integrity of our state and the implementation of contractual mechanisms. The Secretary of the Civil Contract Faction Artur Hovhannisyan said during the parliamentary briefings on October 10, answering the journalist’s question.

“Our position is unequivocal. Yes, Azerbaijan should leave our territories because the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia is not subject to bargaining under any condition. The EU mission will definitely contribute to stabilization and will serve as an additional deterrent to possible Azerbaijani aggression,” a member of the Civil Contract Faction Vahagn Aleksanyan underlined.

The MP Hripsime Grigoryan stated that the exact date is not clear at the moment, but the deployment of the EU mission is expected by the end of the month.

“The territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia is not subject to bargaining and negotiation. I officially declare once again that there is absolutely no talk of any corridor from our sovereign territory in any official negotiation. This is confirmed by all the statements published in different formats. These are statements addressed to the domestic audience by the Azerbaijani side,” Hripsime Grigoryan said.

According to the deputy, the international community directly and unequivocally records that the RA territorial integrity is a red line for them as well. “There can be no talk of any corridor that will be in the RA sovereign territory,” the representative of the faction stated.

The journalist was interested in what international mechanisms Stepanakert will use to negotiate with Baku.

Artur Hovhannisyan noted that these mechanisms are not definitively known to anyone because they are still under discussion. According to him, it is about an effective mechanism, thanks to which the dialogue will be successful as much as possible, and the rights of Artsakh-Armenians will be ensured on their own land.

According to Hripsime Grigoryan, we should make every effort so that the international community exerts pressure, and the format is as efficient and effective as possible. She highlighted the fact that the security and rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh continue to be in the center of attention of the international community.

Hripsime Grigoryan stated that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh issue are different. “The Nagorno-Karabakh issue was never a territorial issue, it was never a land issue, it was an issue of the realization of the people’s rights to self-determination. There is no contradiction in these two issues, and both, the people’s rights to self-determination and territorial integrity, are principles of international law, there is no contradiction. In other words, recognizing the territorial integrity of any country does not mean that other issues that may be related to that country are closed. It also refers to Nagorno-Karabakh,” the MP clarified.
